Terms of Service
Town Lantern is operated by Town Lantern LLC, a Florida limited liability company. By creating an account or using this site, you agree to these terms. We've written them in plain English because you should be able to understand what you're agreeing to.
1. Who can use Town Lantern
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything posted from your account.
2. Your content stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you post — your headlines, summaries, comments, reviews, and deal listings.
By posting, you grant Town Lantern LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, reproduce, and distribute that content on and in connection with the site. This license exists so we can legally show your post to other members. It ends when you delete your content, except for copies already shared by others or retained in backups.
You promise that what you post is yours to post, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
3. What you may not post
Threats of violence, harassment, or targeted abuse of any person.
Private information about others — addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or anything else used to locate or intimidate someone.
Slurs directed at a person or a group of people.
Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
Sexual content involving minors, or any illegal content. We report such material to the appropriate authorities.
Spam, scams, malware, phishing, or deceptive commercial schemes.
Deliberate falsehoods presented as fact, including fabricated quotes, invented statistics, and manipulated media passed off as genuine.
Automated vote manipulation, or operating multiple accounts to create a false impression of consensus.
4. Deals, reviews, and disclosure
If you post a deal, the price, retailer, and redemption steps must be accurate to the best of your knowledge at the time of posting.
If you earn money, credit, or anything of value when someone buys through a link you post, you must say so clearly in the post. This is required by law under the FTC's endorsement rules, not just by us.
Reviews must reflect your genuine, first-hand experience. Do not review a product, restaurant, or app you have not actually used.
Town Lantern may earn affiliate commissions on some links. Where we do, we disclose it.
5. Moderation and enforcement
We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these terms. Our usual approach is a warning first, then a posting restriction, then removal of the account — but we may act immediately where the violation is severe.
We are not obligated to host anything. We may remove content at our discretion.
If you believe we made a mistake, write to us through the Sound Off page and we will review it.
6. Content from other members and other sites
Town Lantern is a place where members post links and opinions. Those posts are the views of the people who wrote them, not of Town Lantern LLC.
We do not verify the accuracy of member posts, and we do not control the websites members link to. Follow outside links at your own judgment.
Nothing on this site is professional advice. Health, financial, and legal content posted here is discussion among members — not advice from qualified professionals. Talk to your own doctor, accountant, or attorney.
7. No warranty, and limits on our liability
Town Lantern is provided as-is and as-available. We make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything you read here is accurate.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Town Lantern LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred dollars.
Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Ending your account
You can stop using Town Lantern at any time and ask us to delete your account through the Sound Off page.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows. We will change the date at the top when we do, and for significant changes we will post a notice on the site.
Continuing to use Town Lantern after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida.
