ESPN reports that the Milwaukee Brewers clinched the National League's No. 1 seed on Thursday, and the Tampa Bay Rays hold the top spot in the American League after winning the AL East. The field is nearly set. The Dodgers, Yankees, Braves, Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Guardians and Padres have all clinched, and the Phillies are closing in on the last berth. The AL Central is still a two-team fight between the White Sox and Guardians, and Chicago holds the tiebreaker. The best-of-three wild-card series open Tuesday, Sept. 29. The World Series starts Friday, Oct. 23. A small-market team in Milwaukee has earned the easiest road through October. But the best record only gets you a bye, not a ring. Now they have to go play the games.
