Why it matters: on GrapheneOS, Google Play services are optional and run sandboxed like ordinary apps instead of having deep system access. You keep the apps you need and decide how much Big Tech gets to see. The fine print: no release date, no price, and no word yet on how installation will work. PhoneArena also reports that GrapheneOS hasn't confirmed support for Google's new Pixel 11 lineup, citing missing hardware memory tagging. So the ironic twist is that the best privacy option may no longer be a Google phone. Competition is good for customers. More phone makers meeting a real security bar is a win.
