Good news for picky eaters: 10 different healthy diets were all linked to slower biological aging

A German study of about 7,500 adults, published in Nature Communications, scored people's eating habits against ten healthy dietary patterns, including Mediterranean, Nordic, plant-based and DASH. The researchers measured biological aging through chemical changes to DNA. Closer adherence to every one of the ten patterns was associated with slower biological aging, and more than 70% of the affected biological pathways were shared across the diets. The researchers are careful to say this is an association, not proof that the diets caused slower aging, and that the effects are "not massive, but measurable." Why I like this study: for years people have been sold the idea of one true diet, and this data says there isn't one. Eat more of the vegetables, beans and whole foods your family will actually eat, and skip the miracle programs. If you manage diabetes or take medication, talk to your own doctor before making big changes.
